“0 calories” doesn’t mean 0 calories

“0 calories” doesn’t mean 0 calories

A company can claim ‘0 calories’ on a food label if the product has less than 5 calories per serving

This may not seem like a lot but it can sure add up…
A bottle of butter spray with ’0 calories’ actually has 904 calories!

Here’s the math:

1 serving of butter spray = 4 calories (labeled as 0 calories)
Note: 1 serving = 5 sprays

Let’s say you use butter spray on your popcorn:
5 sprays = 4 calories
10 sprays = 8 calories

Let’s say you pour the butter on your popcorn:
“After all, it has ‘0 calories”

There are 226 servings in an 8 oz bottle of butter spray
226 servings x 4 calories/serving = 904 unexpected calories!

Look at an 8 oz. bottle of butter spray the next time you’re at the grocery store and see how easy it would be to use the entire bottle on a bowl of popcorn.
