Performing exercises with any of the following equipment counts as strength training:

  • Free weights (dumbbells)
  • Strength training machines
  • Exercise bands
  • Your body weight
  • Other weighted equipment

If your muscles are sore the next day from a particular exercise, chances are you did something that is strengthening your muscles.
