Step 6: Create a plan to achieve your goal

Planning is the most important step to achieving your goals, yet most people skip it.

Plan how to achieve your goal

Brainstorm as many ways as you can.

  • How will you achieve your goal?
  • What has worked in the past? What hasn’t?
  • What might work that you’ve never tried?

Plan for obstacles

“If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.” ~Unknown

Make a list of:

  • obstacles you might face.
  • alternative solutions for each obstacle.
Example:

A potential obstacle is a mandatory work meeting at 7:00 am Monday.

Two alternative solutions are:

  • walking on the treadmill Monday evening after work.
  • walking on the treadmill Tuesday morning at 7:00 am.

Obstacles will come up; plan for them. The more obstacles you plan for, the more likely you are to achieve your goal.

Gather your supplies

  • What supplies do you need before your start date?
  • What supplies do you need to follow through with your plan?
