Mentally ‘beating yourself up’ might sound something like this…
“I can’t believe I didn’t exercise at all today. I just blew the whole week. I knew I couldn’t stick to an exercise program. I’ll never lose weight!”
Is it really true that you blew the entire week because you didn’t go to the gym today?
An objective person is someone who is unbiased and will look only at the facts. He or she is not persuaded by thoughts and feelings. He or she might look at the situation and say “You didn’t go to the gym today, but you can go tomorrow.”
Oftentimes we would never even think of telling our friends the things we tell ourselves.
Learn to be your best friend on your journey to permanent weight loss. If you don’t support yourself, how can you expect anyone else to?
For example, instead of being hard on yourself for not exercising today, you can congratulate yourself for exercising yesterday.
This mentality is probably hindering you because you’ve just convinced yourself that you’ll never lose weight.
