1. Size
Your fat cells can grow up to 1,000 times their original size.
2. Capacity
Once a fat cell reaches its maximum capacity, your body produces a new fat cell to store additional fat.
3. Permanence
Once a new fat cell forms, you can’t get rid of it. You can only decrease its size.
4. Number
- Non-obese adults generally have 30 to 50 billion fat cells.
- Obese adults generally have 60 to 100 billion fat cells.
