Waist circumference definition

A measurement of the distance around the smallest part of your abdomen.

Your waist circumference is typically measured between your belly button and the center of your rib cage and recorded in inches or centimeters. This measurement can be used to indicate abdominal obesity and to track changes in waist size during weight loss efforts.

Your waist circumference can also be used with your hip circumference to calculate your waist to hip ratio.
