Spot reduction definition

A myth that implies you can pick a place (spot) on your body and lose (reduce) the fat from that area.

This myth is often taken advantage of during commercials and infomercials for exercise equipment. For example, a commercial may lead you to believe you can use an abdominal machine to lose fat from you stomach.

You cannot perform a specific exercise to lose fat from a specific area of your body.
