How to warm up

How to warm up

Perform one of the following types of warm-ups:

General warm-up

Perform any low intensity exercise that involves the continuous movement of your large muscle groups.

Examples:
  • Walking
  • Jogging
  • Biking
  • Using an elliptical machine

Specific warm-up

Perform a lower intensity version of the same or similar exercise you plan to do during your workout.

Examples:
  • If you plan to walk at a brisk pace during your workout, warm up by walking at a slower pace (and/or at a lower incline if you’re using a treadmill).
  • If you plan to strength train, warm up by performing the same exercises you’ll do during your workout but with lighter weights.
