How can I lose the fat from my stomach?

 

Perform aerobic exercise in your target heart rate zone.

 

Aerobic exercise will help you reduce your overall body fat. However, you may lose fat from other areas of your body before you lose it from your stomach. Be patient and don’t give up. You’ll eventually lose fat from your stomach.

Contrary to what commercials, infomercials, and magazine ads imply…

You CANNOT perform a specific exercise to lose fat from a specific area of your body.

Example:

You cannot perform sit-ups or other abdominal exercises and assume you’ll lose fat from your stomach.

This is called the myth of spot reduction or the myth that you can pick a spot on your body and reduce the fat from that area.

Sit-ups and other abdominal exercises:

  • WILL strengthen your abdominal muscles (which is important), but
  • WILL NOT get rid of the layer of fat covering them.
