How accurate are the calorie counts on exercise machines?

How accurate are the calorie counts on exercise machines?

Calories burned during exercise are estimates.

Calorie counts provide an estimate of calories burned during exercise.
They will never be 100% accurate.

To increase the accuracy of the estimate:

  • Enter your weight and any other personal information (age, gender, etc.) the machine asks for.
  • Use the machine as it was intended. For example, when using a stepmill or stair stepper, be sure not to lean on the arm rails.
